Getting schooled

We had a big milestone in our house this week...as of last Tuesday, Sonia is officially a preschooler. I had anticipated writing some long, detailed post about all of the craziness we experienced (tears, tantrums, and whatever other reactions Sameer had), but it has been surprisingly uneventful. She is attending a small school that is walking distance from our house, and the plan was to start her now in the summer when they are fewer students and it is generally calmer. The plan must have worked as the transition has been smooth so far -- the first day she only went for 2-3 hours, but didn't cry when Sameer and Chuki left (yes, of course I was at work), and that pattern has repeated itself on Thursday and today, with her staying a bit longer each time.

We've only received two pieces of "feedback" from the teachers so far: a) that Sonia is very polite and always says "please" and "thank you" (Sameer and I are of course patting ourselves on the back for that one), and b) that she is unable to drink out of a cup without a lid (whoops...were we supposed to teach her that by now?).

Sameer "Ansel Adams" Dholakia had the camera on the wrong setting, so sadly we don't really have any great first-day-of-school pictures. Just imagine a 2-year-old with some unfortunate bed head with big eyes checking out a whole lot of new toys to play with, and you about have the right picture.
