I know, I know...post more often

We are way behind in posting to our blog, so I'll try and catch everyone up on recent events in one big posting. As of today, we are officially one month away from the due date, which is both exciting and, of course, mildly terrifying.

On the workfront, I'm already well into the phase of ramping down. I'm working on an "internal project" which means it's not client work (read: in town, in the office, go home early every day). Needless to say, I am not complaining. I'm scheduled to work through October 25th, so just a little over two more weeks (not that I'm counting or anything). After that apparently the state of California has decided that I'm unfit to work, because I'll be on paid disability leave until the baby arrives. My plan is to take off 6 months of maternity leave, and then head on back so that Sameer's head does not explode every time he updates his increasingly complex excel model of our finances.

Since the last post, Sameer has been doing his best to be on the road as much as possible (not sure if this is to avoid his hormonally-challenged wife, or because, as he claims, he's trying to get as many trips out of the way so he can be "grounded" between now and Baby Dholakia's arrival). So, he was in India for a week, followed by a boondoggle to Boston, and of course he has been doing his usual circuit of Orange County and Austin. He also represented Team Dholakia at Jason and Julie's wedding reception, where by all accounts he did "drink for three" as he had claimed he would. I would describe the reception in more detail if Sameer could recall any of it. All I can say is that apparently there was an open bar. Special thanks to Paige and Trevor for mailing Sameer back his prescription glasses which he "lost" along the way (how you lose the glasses that are on your face remains a mystery). I did hear from other, more sober, attendees that the reception was fantastic and I am definitely bummed that I had to miss it. Since Jason and Julie are delaying their honeymoon until next year, I'm sure I can make up for not celebrating their wedding now by joining them then. I've always wanted to see New Zealand...

Our quest to "get smart(er)" about baby-related stuff is continuing. We now know (in theory) how to care and feed for a new baby, or at least we know when we're screwing up and need to call someone to figure out what's going on. We have our last class this weekend, the all-important childbirth class, where hopefully they will teach us how to say "I'd like an epidural" in multiple languages. We *still* don't have the nursery set up (don't get me started on how furniture that you ordered in July can still be on backorder), but according to Sameer we have already bought way too much stuff so we are ready gear-wise.

Other than that, life continues as normal...or as "normal" as things can be when every day you're bigger than yesterday, and one of these days a person is going to come out of you. :-)
