Lazy weekend

We've enjoyed a great, lazy weekend staying close to home. Friday night Sameer didn't arrive home until late, so after Sonia went to bed I started to systematically watch all of the new shows Tivo had recorded all week.

To say that I am glad that the new television season has started would be an understatement. In addition to welcoming back our favorites from last season (Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, House, How I Met Your Mother...and we're still waiting for Scrubs and Friday Night Lights to return), we're trying out a few new shows as well. So far, decidedly mixed results. Big Shots (premiering after Grey's Anatomy) was absolutely terrible -- almost unwatchable. The Big Bang (or something like that) which came on after How I Met Your Mother was maybe worse. Bionic Woman wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good so definitely disappointing given all the hype. So far the only new show I genuinely liked was Dirty Sexy Money (I'm a big Peter Krause fan). And we'll probably stick with Private Practice (the Grey's Anatomy spin-off) for a little while since Sameer is obsessed with Kate Walsh.

On Saturday we relaxed and spent time at the new playscape a quick 3 blocks from our house. We've already established our new weekend pattern of hitting Whole Foods on the way to the park and then hanging out there while we eat our sandwiches. In the evening, we went over to Ryan and Sarah's to see their super cute 1-month old daughter Leah. It was fun to see a baby so tiny (8 lbs) and realize just how much Sonia has changed in 10+ months. Sonia particularly enjoyed getting to know their Labradoodle Kona, who literally followed her around the house, licking her constantly. Sonia would pretend to be upset, but then as soon as Kona stopped, she would crawl back to him as if to say, "Why did you stop playing with me?" The quote of the night from Sameer: "You're right, maybe we should get a dog." You heard it here first.

Today the Dodsons trekked down from San Francisco for a quick stop at Whole Foods and a visit to the park (are you detecting a pattern?). It was great to see those guys and a chance for us to show off the ridiculous sunshine of the Peninsula and make our "you should move down here" sales pitch again. This afternoon we're off to Costco as soon as naptime is over.

What wild and crazy lives we lead. :-)

Below are our pictures from the month of September (including a few from this weekend).
